This trail lies within a 318 acre Bernal property. This particular trail follows the Arroyo de la Laguna from the trail staging area, southward to the Bernal Canal, and then northeast along the Bernal Canal to Valley Avenue. This trial serves as a link to a future trail that will follow onward to Concord through Niles Canyon to the Bay. The Marilyn Murphy Kane Trail offers breathtaking views of the Pleasanton Ridge to the West, Mt. Diablo to the North, and the Ohlone Wilderness to the South. There are benches places at different views.
Dogs must be on leash at all times. No overnight camping is allowed. Any disturbance of plant and animal life is prohibited.

- Reptiles include: gopher snakes, rattle snakes, king snakes, garter snakes, western fence lizards
- Birds include: Red Tail Hawks, Blue Jays, Yellow-Billed Magpies, Turkey Vultures, various songbirds, Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Red-Winged Blackbirds, Black-Shouldered Kite.
