Open Heart Kitchen’s Mission: Founded in 1995 by an inter-faith effort, Open Heart Kitchen’s mission is to provide nutritious meals, free of charge to those in need here in the Tri-Valley area. All are Welcome Open Heart Kitchen offers the only free hot meal service of its kind in the area. Open heart Kitchen fulfills our mission through 3 basic meal programs: 1.) The hot meal program, 2.) The weekend Box Lunch program, 3.) The Senior Meal Program 1.) Hot Meals Program: The Hot meal program provides meals for anyone in need. Hot meals are made from scratch by our volunteers and served from four locations, Monday through Friday, to anyone in need. Each meal consists of a protein, starch, vegetable, green salad, fruit salad, bread, milk, coffee, tea or juice and dessert. 2.) Weekend Box Lunch Program: the weekend boxed lunch program fills the nutritional gap of low income children on the USDA school programs. Children who receive free school lunches during the week are left without on the weekends. To supplement school lunches over the weekends, Open Heart Kitchen distributes a box lunch consisting of two healthy lunches to low income children and their families on Friday afternoons to schools in the Livermore, Pleasanton and Dublin. We also have a homeless bag program. 3.) Senior Meal Program: Our senior meal program addresses the nutritional gap of low-income seniors. Open Heart Kitchen prepares and serves dinner for low income senior citizens 62+ years, Monday through Friday at Ridge View Commons a Low income senior Center. Residents and neighboring seniors from the Tri-Valley area are encouraged to join Open Heart Kitchen for a low cost “Senior Friendly” nutritious meal
