Inspired by William Shakespeare, who through the rhetoric and poetry of the English language, gave voice to the deepest experience of being human, we are committed to producing professional theater in the community. We produce and support theatrical events that celebrate the human experience. We create a company that is accessible and fully integrated with the Tri-Valley community, and invite the participation of our Central Valley and Greater Bay Area neighbors.

Livermore Shakespeare Festival is a professional theater company performing in Livermore Valley Wine Country in the middle of Concannon Vineyard. Shakespeare intended his plays TO BE experienced live and NOT TO BE read passively at home or in a classroom! Get your head out of the book and see Shakespeare as it is meant to be done: LIVE. This summer you will be able to a Shakespearean comedy performed to perfection at the 2013 Livermore Shakespeare Festival, as well as a festival farce adapted from Pierre Corneille’s classic. Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew is a comedy and love story – loved by millions for both qualities. It’s great prep for the required Shakespeare reading for most high school students. Join us before the show on Sunday, July 7th at 6pm on the lawn for a discussion on Shrew. Pre-show discussion will be led by Livermore Shakes Education Director and Shakespeare teacher at Bellarmine College Preparatory, Russ Marcel. You can also enjoy one of the recent comic hits sweeping the nation’s Shakespeare festivals: a classic french farce The Liar, adapted by the comic genius David Ives. Both plays are appropriate for students nine years and older.
