It is indeed true that acts of kindness can be contagious and create a communal sense of paying-it-forward. Although Pleasanton’s Unity Day was originally designed to promote anti-bullying, this year the City of Pleasanton has decided to take a different approach: change the focus to spreading kindness.
In light of Unity Day on October 25, 2017, Ptownlife has decided to make two contests to document expressions of kindness in Pleasanton – one for the elementary schools, and one for the middle and high schools.
For the elementary schools:
If you enjoy art and drawing, this contest is a great way to express your creativity and skills!
Draw a picture that responds to the prompt “My act of kindness is…”. Include a short caption at the bottom of your drawing.
Send your drawings to Ptownlife at info@ptownlife.org. Students can use whatever media they like, such as color pencils, markers, crayons, etc. Entries are due October 27.
Winners will get art kits, and their drawings will be posted on the Ptownlife website!
For the middle and high schools:
If you enjoy taking pictures or even the occasional selfie or #tbt, this contest is a wonderful way to display your photography talent!
Take a picture of an act of kindness – this can fall into a variety of categories, so be creative. Post the picture on Instagram and tag us with the hashtag #PtownBeKind. Entries are due October 27.
NOTE: You must have a public account for your picture to be seen using the tag. If you do not wish for your account to be public, post the picture with the hashtag but additionally DM @ptownlife the same picture.
Winners will get gift cards, and their photos will be posted on the Ptownlife website and our Instagram, @ptownlife.
If you have any questions, email us at info@ptownlife.org.
