There it is, you can see it now. The glorious light at the end of the tunnel. It’s May, which means it’s the last month of school! Summertime will come again! But until that sweet release, here are some things we all experience during the last month of toil (before it starts all over again).
1) The occasional burn-out
Hey, it happens to the best of us. The sluggishness, increased procrastination, and the overall haze surrounding us. But, hang in there!
2) Everything’s a mess
Notes are strewn everywhere, and your backpack consists of countless binders and folders stuffed with handouts from back in September. There’s no way you’re finding anything, anywhere.
3) That 4-week limbo
We all have that class. You know, the one with a lower than satisfactory grade plastered on the side. You have four weeks to cross the finish line, so, contradicting the burn-out, you may be the most productive you’ve ever been. Finishing assignments two days ahead, getting all sappy with your teachers, and oh, that extra credit. A beacon of hope for students everywhere. You’re unstoppable!
4) The time
More often than you’d like, you’ll reminisce on the fun times you had, all the stress you’ve been through, and those culminations. It went from August to May in the blink of an eye, and you’re a year older, a year wiser, and closer to being responsible to yourself. Scary.
5) The emotions
You say goodbye to your teachers, staff, and friends (except if you meet in the summer). The routes to and from all of your classes that have become so familiar will now never be used again. It’s ok to let the floodgates open, but it’ll probably be a different type of floodgate when school starts back up again. You’re almost there, and your hard work has paid off! After that, you deserve a relaxing break for sure.To all students, educators, and staff, thank you. It’s been a great year.
