Tuesday, December 12th, was Amador Valley High School’s annual winter pops band concert. The five concert bands each performed a different set of tunes, including some recognizable holiday ones such as Selections from the Nutcracker and Sleigh Ride. Sleigh Ride was performed by Amador’s Wind Ensemble II and was guest-conducted by school district Superintendent David Haglund. The band concert also included performances by a trombone quartet and the Jazz band, both playing short holiday melodies between the concert bands’ transitions.
Thursday, December 14th, from 7:30 to 9:30, is Amador’s string orchestra and choir performance. The concert will feature the two string orchestras and the chamber choir. The choir will be singing a set that includes Holy Night, Cum Sancto, and Winter Wonderland. Make sure to go and support the orchestra and choir! The band performances can be found on youtube.
