The First Tee mission is to impact the lives of young people (ages 5 – 17) by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. We focus on nine core values: Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Confidence, Responsibility, Perseverance, Courtesy, and Judgment. These values form the foundation of our Life Skills educational program teaching young people interpersonal, self-management, goal-setting and resistance skills that they can take from the golf course to everyday life.

Introductory golf classes and camps infused with The First Tee's proven character-building curriculum, are held year round. Additionally each season, we run junior golf tournaments as well as outreach programs where our chapter partners with other community organization to promote golf inclusion. We BELIEVE in youth! The First Tee is a leading youth development organization reaching millions of young people across the world. Through its mission of teaching life skills and character education through the game of golf, The First Tee is having a positive impact on participants, their families and their communities. Since 1997, The First Tee has introduced golf and its values to more than 5 million participants in all 50 states and at six international locations. The First Tee of the Tri-Valley is the local chapter for Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin, San Ramon and surrounding communities that make up the Tri-Valley. We are proud to say that we have improved the lives of over 5,000 local youth since our chapter’s founding in 2005. We operate programs year-round at the Pleasanton Golf Course where The First Tee certified coaches partner with local volunteers to provide golf and life skills instruction. In addition, each semester we run in-school programs where P.E. teachers administer our Golf and Life Skills curriculum to elementary school youth. We rely on corporations, individuals and foundations for funding, ensuring that The First Tee program is provided free of charge to families that can not afford program fees and selected local non-profits reaching young people who can improve their lives through our curriculum.
